The Ridge will take advantage of the natural ridgeline to provide amazing views of the park from the new shelter. 

• The pavilion will feature an indoor rental space of approximately 2,000 square feet, complete with a concession stand.
• The outdoor area will span over 8,500 square feet, making it suitable for events of various sizes. 
• A detached covered stage will provide a versatile venue for the multitude of community special events held in our park each year.
• The parking lot will be adequately sized for the facility's needs, while larger events will still utilize the park's grassy areas.

The new Parks Maintenance Facility is designed to meet the essential needs of the department, offering sufficient space to maintain and store vehicles and equipment outside of the elements conveniently located near the Village’s main park operations. It will replace the 1979 facility that was designed for the community size and operations of that era.

Weaver Drive will be reconstructed from The Grove (splash pad) to The Ridge. There will be some work in April, but the majority of the work will begin after Lions Daze (end of July). Below is description of the road and utility work that will be done along with preliminary start dates.

April

• Sidewalk along Weaver Drive at the Grove.

End of July

• Sanitary sewer and water main extensions from The Grove to The Ridge.

• Storm sewer extension from The Grove to the ballfields at the south end of the park (Diamond 2 will be converted to a storm/fishing pond as part of a separate project).

• Curb and gutter, sidewalk and road construction from The Grove to The Ridge.

Note: Once the road and utility work begins, Weaver Drive  will be CLOSED to traffic south of The Grove  from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each work day to allow the contractors to complete the construction more quickly. The road will be opened at 4:30 p.m. each day to allow access to the south part of the park for ballgames, etc. The road will be gravel and will likely be a bit rough during this time  Please drive slowly and use caution when driving through the construction zone.

A 1.34 acre wet pond will be constructed on ball diamond 2 at the lower/southern end of the park that will provide water quality control for the park and for part of the proposed subdivision to the west of the park. The pond and a new swale from the pond to the south lot line of the park will be constructed in the early phases of the 2025 project and should be completed by the end of July 2025.

This pond will not be for swimming, but once fully established could be a fun location to teach your kids and grandkids to fish.

August 1, 2025 Update

After decades of memories, the Lions Open Air Pavilion has officially been retired to make way for something brand new. Check out this quick timelapse of the demolition that took place this week below.

The Stormwater Pond is actively under construction. There are 8-10 dump trucks running all day long hauling the material away from the site. Please be aware of their movement in the park.

The Park Maintenance Facility walls are beginning to be poured and should appear on site by the beginning of August for installation.

June 20, 2025 Update 

The Podolske playground at Village Park will be taken down either Friday, June 20, or Saturday, June 21, as part of the park enhancements. A new playground is set for spring 2026, with final design pending Village Board approval at the June 24 Village Board meeting.

May 16, 2025 Update

The Parks & Recreation Department hosted a groundbreaking at the site of the future Park Shop building on Wednesday, May 14th. It was an exciting event to host the crews that will be involved on the project and to formally mark the start of construction. Work has since began and we look forward to seeing the project progress.

March 26, 2025 Update

Following the approval of the construction bid for The Ridge project, crews will immediately begin work in the area which will include the removal of trees as outlined in the project plans. This necessary step will help prepare the site for development. Residents may notice activity in the coming days as crews carry out this phase of construction; however, park facilities will remain open for public use.
