The Village believes it is important to recognize and honor Sussex community members who demonstrate kindness, selflessness, and a positive impact on others through their actions. To honor these actions, the Village has developed the Good Neighbors of Sussex Award program. Nominations will be collected year-round and reviewed by the Village President who will recognize an award recipient quarterly.

Nominations:

  • Nominees may be any community member and can be any age (resident, business owner, volunteer).
  • The individual may be nominated by anyone. (There are no restrictions on who can nominate the individual.)
  • There will be quarterly recognition of Good Neighbors of Sussex Award recipients at a Village Board meeting (four recipients each year, pending nominations).
  • Nominations may be made at anytime and there is no deadline for submittals.
  • Recipients and their nominators will be invited to attend a Village Board meeting to recognize them for their actions.
  • A certificate bearing the Village logo will be presented to each recognized citizen by the Village President.
  • Photographs and details of the presentation will be shared in Village communications.

Recognition can be granted to an individual who has done any of the following:

  • Reflected kindness, service, or going above and beyond to help others.
  • Demonstrated an outstanding act of bravery, courage, or heroism.
  • Went "above and beyond" or demonstrated initiative, exceptional service and/or community caretaking.
