Caretta Sussex Construction and Main Street Traffic Update
Construction is underway for the new Caretta Sussex Senior Living development, located on the south side of Main Street between Maple Avenue and Locust Street. The private development work is expected to continue through summer 2027. You can view a map of the area here.
What to Expect Now
As construction continues, motorists traveling along Main Street should be aware of construction vehicles entering and leaving the development site.
Drivers should:
- Use caution when traveling through the area.
- Be prepared for occasional delays.
- Watch for construction vehicles entering and leaving the site.
- Follow the directions of flaggers when present.
At times, flaggers may be needed to temporarily reduce traffic to one lane while materials or equipment are being staged.
Main Street Work Coming Later
As part of the Caretta development, additional construction will take place within Main Street. This portion of the project is expected to last approximately one month, with the start date still to be determined.
The work will include:
- Water main work
- Concrete curb and gutter
- Sidewalk construction
- Concrete and asphalt roadway pavement patches
Two-way traffic will be maintained during this work, with one lane of traffic in each direction through the work area.
The traffic control plan for this phase includes advance road-work signage and narrowed travel lanes. Motorists should use caution and be prepared for slower traffic when traveling through the work zone.
The Village will provide an additional traffic update once a start date for the Main Street work has been confirmed.
