Register Now for the Community Portal
In October 2025, the Village launched an online Community Portal, providing residents 24/7 access to view and pay utility bills, sign up for paperless utility billing, and enroll in autopay. All Payment Service Network (PSN) utility accounts must be transitioned to the new portal by June 2026. After that date, payments will no longer be accepted through PSN. Please note: There is no Quick Pay option in the new portal, and all users must create an account on the new portal. Visit the Community Portal to create your secure account.
We're Hiring!
- Summer Day Camp Counselors: We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic staff to lead exciting activities for our campers ages 6–12. These are seasonal positions working May through August. Learn More! **Full-time seasonal employees may enroll up to two children in the Village of Sussex day camp program for free.**
- Community Development Director: Help facilitate growth throughout the Village and to bolster the Village’s economic development efforts. The Community Development Director will lead a team charged with implementing the Village’s economic development, zoning code enforcement, land use planning, and building inspection functions. The position requires graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in economic development, planning, or similar field. A master’s degree is preferred. Five years of progressively responsible work experience in a related position and supervisory experience is required. A comparable amount of work experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Water Operator: Perform water plant maintenance, lab work, distribution system maintenance, water meter installation and more. Possession of a valid Wisconsin Municipal waterworks operator certification in Groundwater and Distribution is preferred. The successful candidate must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License as well as a Class B CDL with airbrakes or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Part-time Event Supervisor: Support a series of community events. This part-time temporary position is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with the public, problem-solving on the spot, and ensuring events run smoothly from start to finish.
- Group Fitness Instructor to provide group exercise fitness instruction and supervision in variety of formats including yoga, strength training, cardiovascular exercise. Instructors should be certified in the format they are teaching. Candidates must be able to instruct multiple fitness levels and ensure the safety of all patrons in the class.
- Tumbling Instructor to lead our Grown Up + Me (parent/child) and Introduction to Tumbling classes for ages 2-5. Instructors will guide participants through various movement activities and games in a safe, fun environment. Class curriculum development and management is required, and experience in gymnastics/tumbling is desired.
- Tennis Coordinator: Lead fun and engaging tennis programs for the Village of Sussex Parks & Recreation Department. In this role, you’ll plan, organize, and run tennis activities that bring players together and create a high quality experience on the court. Must be 18 years or older. Learn More!
- Youth Tennis Instructor: Assist the Tennis Coordinator with the planning, organization and implementation of weekly tennis activities to create a high-quality experience for every player. Tennis knowledge and experience required. Applicants must be 14 years or older.
- Dance Instructor: We’re looking for an energetic dance teacher to inspire and educate young dancers (ages 4-12) in hip-hop and/or pom and jazz dance! Classes are typically held in the evenings during the week with about three classes per night, but we will be flexible for the right candidate. Classes run September through March, with our recital held at the beginning of March. There may be opportunities to continue teaching with our summer program for the right candidate.
- Full-time Firefighter/Paramedic: Shifts are 48 hours on and 96 hours off. The estimated annual working hours are 2,737 in comparison to 2,900+ in many other fire departments. The Village offers a competitive wage and insurance package (health, dental, and vision), paid vacation and sick time, and participates in the retirement program through the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).
- Part-time Firefighter/Paramedic or Firefighter/EMT: Positions are part-time paid-on-premise. Shifts are 12 hours (06:00-18:00 and 18:00-06:00) and there is a weekend/holiday commitment. Part-time positions are limited to (2) 12-hour shifts per week (24 hours total). In addition to a competitive wage, additional benefits include access to on-site workout facility while on-duty, fully furnished living quarters, and training opportunities.
Splash Pad Opening
The splash pad at The Grove at Village Park is now open for the 2026 season (weather permitting). The splash pad is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or dusk (whichever is earlier) now through Labor Day. Exterior bathrooms are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Plant & Sip with BINGO! (An Adults Over 50 Event)
When: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, June 3
Where: Civic Center Plaza
Sip on lemonade and arrange a beautiful outdoor planter. Be sure to stay for summer BINGO immediately after from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a great way to kick off summer! Events will move inside if the weather doesn't cooperate. Register Online by June 3.
America 250: Class Car Cruise Night presented by Power Test
When: Thursday, June 18 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Where: Civic Center Plaza
Join us for a special America 250 version of this year's Classic Car Cruise Night! Decorate your car with American Flags, wave American Flags along the parade route, and celebrate America's birth. Live music and food/beverages will be available for purchase. The cruise route is posted here. Thanks to our generous sponsors, the first 50 cars in the lineup will each receive a flag to clip onto their vehicle during the event. We encourage you to decorate your cars patriotically to join in the celebration!
- Cruise 5:30 p.m.
- Car Show 6 to 8 p.m.
- Live Music 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Classic Car Owners: There is no fee to cruise. Line up by 5:30 p.m. at Maple Avenue School. The cruise will start at 5:30 p.m. from the church and ends at the Civic Center on Main Street (see the Cruise Map). Classic cars not participating in the cruise can participate in the car show on Main Street in front of the Civic Center beginning at 6 p.m. (see the Show Only Map).

When: Thursday, June 25 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Where: Ridgeview Park

The Ridge at Village Park Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting presented by Exterior Pros, PowerTest, and Sussex Area Service Club
When: Wednesday, July 1 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: The Ridge at Village Park
Join us for the grand opening celebration of The Ridge at Village Park presented by Exterior Pros!
The Ridge at Village Park replaces the 1986 shelter with a modern pavilion featuring an indoor rental space of approximately 2,000 square feet, complete with a concession stand. In addition, the outdoor area will span over 8,500 square feet, making it suitable for events of various sizes. A detached covered stage will provide a versatile venue for the multitude of community special events held in our park each year.
The grand opening event will feature:

- Brewfinity Beverages
- Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 6:45 p.m.
- Live Music by Boogie and the Yo-Yoz from 7 to 9 p.m.
Free Summer Meal Program for Kids/Teens
When: June 15 - August 21 (excluding July 3) from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Where: The Grove at Village Park *meet under the tent by the splash pad
Kids Eat Free Lunch offers FREE healthy meals to any child or teen under the age of 19. Any child or teen is welcome to walk up and enjoy lunch!
We Want Your Tree!
Be the pride of Sussex for the holiday season with your tree in the Civic Center plaza! The tree must be at least 30 feet tall, look good from all angles, and be easily accessed for removal by the Village. If you can donate a tree, please call us at (262) 246-5200.

The Sussex Civic Center will be closed Friday, July 3.
America Turns 250 - And We're Celebrating!
Free Flag Giveaway | We're giving away 250 flags in honor of America's 250th birthday! Pick yours up starting Monday, June 15th between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Sussex Civic Center, while supplies last. Bring your flag to show your patriotic spirit at our upcoming events:
Classic Car Cruise Night | June 18th, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. - Wave your flag as an incredible parade of classic cars rolls by! The first 50 cars in the lineup will each receive a flag to clip onto their vehicle during the event. Afterward, join us at the Civic Center Front Plaza to kick off the festivities with a few patriotic favorites!
Pauline Haass Public Library Presents: America 250 Wisconsin Ties to the American Revolution | June 29th, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. - The years 2025 to 2033 mark the 250th anniversary of the War of Independence. Victory over Britain made the territory of Wisconsin part of the United States. Although Wisconsin was not a state at the time, and would not be until 1848, there came many descendants of the Revolutionary generation that later built the State of Wisconsin. This talk will explore ties between Wisconsin and the revolutionary generation, including the 40-plus veterans of that conflict buried in the state.
4th of July Community Parade - This year, we're going bigger! In honor of our nation's 250th birthday, we're transforming our beloved Kiddie Parade into a full Community Parade — open to all ages. Dress in your most patriotic gear and march with us down Main Street to The Grove at Village Park, where free ice cream, playground fun, and the splashpad await!
- 9:15 a.m. Decorate yourself, your bike, scooter, cozy coupe or whatever you choose, to ride in our Kiddie parade. Line up in the Civic Center parking lot. No registration required.
- 9:30 a.m. Kiddie Parade starts. Participants in the parade march west on Main Street to The Grove at Village Park. Spectators are encouraged to join us along Main Street!
- 10 a.m. Celebrate your arrival at The Grove after the parade with ICE CREAM! Bring your swimsuit and cool off at the splash pad!
Fireworks Show - NEW this year, our fireworks display will be set to music, making this Independence Day spectacular even more unforgettable!
Pauline Haass Public Library Presents: America 250 Lineage Societies to Celebrate Patriotism | July 16th, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. - In the 1890s it became a trend to claim a Revolutionary War Patriot and join a society that represented your Americanism, such as the Daughters of the American Revolution. Find out about the history of these organizations and what they meant then and now.
