Adopt a Drain
Do you have 15 minutes twice a month to help protect our lakes and rivers?
Consider adopting a storm drain! Adopters are asked to clean the surface of their storm drain twice a month and report the quantity and composition of debris removed. The Adopt a Drain program was launched in 2022 by Waukesha County and the Village of Sussex. Runoff from spring and summer storms flows into storm drains, travels through the underground pipe network and flows directly into the Sussex Creek. Cleaning debris from storm drains helps protect the quality of our local waters.

We encourage you to review this report to learn about the source and quality of the drinking water delivered to you in 2025. View the report online. To receive a paper copy, call (262) 246-5200.
A Mowing Season Reminder
When mowing your lawn, please keep grass clippings out of the street! Grass clippings clog storm drains and cause weed and algae growth in lakes and rivers. Put the clippings back on your yard as fertilizer or use them as mulch!
