Holiday Closings

Civic Center offices will be closed: Wednesday and Thursday, December 24 and 25; Wednesday, December 31 (open from 8 a.m. to noon for property tax payments only); and Thursday, January 1.

Join in the fun of the Holiday Tree Lighting! This FREE holiday event is for children of all ages! Besides the countdown and lighting of the tree, we'll have live music by local school children, hot cocoa and cookies courtesy of Quad and, of course, a visit from Santa.

Don’t forget to bring a non-perishable food item to the Tree Lighting for Sussex Outreach Services.

The Village is excited to announce the new Sussex Community Portal! This portal allows you to view your utility bills, pay utility bills online, sign up for paperless utility billing, and enroll in autopay. All utility accounts must be transitioned to the new portal by June 2026. After that date, payments will no longer be accepted through PSN. Please note: There is NOT a Quick Pay option in the new portal and all users MUST create an account in the new portal. (You can also continue to pay your bill by mail, drop box, or in person.)
Create your secure account in the new portal now and begin making utility payments right away by visiting villageofsussexwi.ourcommunityconnect.com. In addition, you can pay online for Yard Waste Passes and Dog Licenses now, with more services coming soon.

  • Building Inspector to review plans and surveys, issue permits (building, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, signage, swimming pools, occupancy), conduct inspections and investigations, respond to complaints, and enforce the zoning ordinance, as well as building, plumbing, and electrical codes. Learn More!
  • Tennis Coordinator to to lead fun and engaging tennis programs for the Village of Sussex Parks & Recreation Department. In this role, you’ll plan, organize, and run tennis activities that bring players together and create a high quality experience on the court. Learn More!
  • Youth Sports Instructor to guide parents and children through various movement activities, basic sports skills and games in a safe, fun environment in our Grown Up+Me classes. Sports taught include: soccer, T-ball, basketball, football, floor hockey, tennis, tumbling and kickball. Experience working with children is desired. Candidates 16 and older will be considered.   • Tumbling Instructor to lead our Grown Up + Me (parent/child) and Introduction to Tumbling classes for ages 2-5 beginning in January 2025. Instructors will guide participants through various movement activities and games in a safe, fun environment. Class curriculum development and management is required, and experience in gymnastics/tumbling is desired. Learn more!
  • Group Fitness Instructor to provide group exercise fitness instruction and supervision in variety of formats including yoga, strength training, cardiovascular exercise. Instructors should be certified in the format they are teaching. Candidates must be able to instruct multiple fitness levels and ensure the safety of all patrons in the class. Learn more!
  • Seasonal Snow Removal Employee to remove snow from sidewalks and parking lots at Village public buildings. This is an on-call position typically working two to four hours per snow event. No CDL required. Learn more!
  • Full-time Firefighter/Paramedics. The full-time Firefighter/Paramedic shifts are 48 hours on and 96 hours off. The Village offers a competitive wage and insurance package (health, dental, and vision), paid vacation and sick time, and participates in the retirement program through the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).   • Part-time Firefighter/Paramedic/EMT. These positions are part-time, paid-on-premise. Shifts are 12 hours (06:00-18:00 and 18:00-06:00) and there is a weekend/holiday commitment. Learn more!

Summer 2026 Seasonal Positions

  • Summer Day Camp Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator to plan and oversee training of Day Camp Counselors, development and implementation of camp curriculum and communication with participants and families in order to create an exceptional experience for every camper. Work begins in May 2026 and ends in late August.   • Day Camp Counselors to assist the Day Camp Coordinators with the planning, organization and implementation of weekly camp activities to create a high quality experience for every camper. Work begins in early June 2026 and ends in late August, depending on seasonal employee availability. Applicants must be 18 or older. Learn more!
  • Seasonal Summer Parks Employees to help keep our parks and facilities beautiful, athletic field prep, event set-up/take-down, special event staffing (particularly for the 4th of July) and assist with a variety of park projects. Weekend work required on a rotating basis. Must be 17 years or older and hold a valid driver’s license. High school students with valid work permit will be considered. Learn more!
  • Seasonal Summer Tennis Instructor to assist the Tennis Coordinator with the planning, organization and implementation of weekly tennis activities to create a high-quality experience for every player. property taxes thumbnailProperty Taxes

Property Tax bills are mailed by Waukesha County by the third Monday in December, based on information on file at the Register of Deeds office on November 1. Property tax bills can be paid in two ways:

 

• In full by January 31;
• In three installment payments, which are due January 31, March 31 and May 31. If you miss a due date for an installment payment, the entire balance becomes due.

Payments can be made:

• In person at the Civic Center during business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday)
• After hours and on weekends in the night drop box located in the vestibule of the Civic Center on the north (parking lot) side of the building;
• By mail (Sussex Civic Center, N64W23760 Main Street, Sussex, WI 53089).

(Online property tax payments will not be accepted this year.)

 

Mailing Address for Utility Payments Changing

Please note that the mailing address for utility bill payments will now be the Civic Center mailing address. If you use online banking to pay your utility bills, don’t forget to update the vendor information to:

For those who pay by mail or drop box, you don’t need to take any further action as the return form has already been updated.

Winter/Spring Program Registration

  • Resident registration for winter/spring programs opens December 1.
  • Non-resident registration opens at 9 a.m. December 5.
  • Programs begin January 5.

Joy Tree ThumbThe Joy Tree

The Joy Tree sits in the first floor lobby at the Sussex Civic Center, decorated with gift idea tags. Community members are invited to choose as many tags as they wish and return the wrapped gift(s) to the Sussex Civic Center no later than Wednesday, December 10. The gifts are distributed by Sussex Outreach Services.

 

 

Trash Bin ImageGarbage/Recycling Collection Delay

Due to the holidays, there will be one-day delays in trash/recycling collection the week of December 22 and week of December 29 for those whose regular collection day is Thursday. Thursday collections will take place on Friday those weeks.

 

 

Curbside Christmas Tree Collection: January 2-31

Staff will make several passes through the Village to collect Christmas trees in January.

  • Please remove all decorations from the tree and place it at the curb.
  • Do not place the tree in a plastic bag.

Assessor Office Hours: Wednesday, January 14

When:   10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Where:  Civic Center

 

Associated Appraisal Consultants, the contracted Assessor for the Village of Sussex, will hold office hours at the Civic Center. This is a chance for residents to meet with the assessor with questions about their most recent tax bill and assessment. No appointment needed; walk-ins welcomed. Questions?
